Alright, I’ve had an idea for a game for about 2 years now, and I feel like putting it out there.
A WarioLand 4 style, Egglike, 2D platformer, that is based around exploration rather than reaching the end of a level. The game would be in a Monochrome artstyle, and each level, when completed, would be destroyed, meaning you have to do as much as you can before leaving.
Im thinking about finally making this game, so maybe look out for that if you’re interested.

While Exploration games are nothing new, doing it for the sake of exploration rather than winning, is a rare concept. The oldest example being Adventure for the Atari 2600. While the game allows you to win. It's true merit was being the first game to ever have an Easter Egg. In this case if you go to a dark room and find an invisible Dot, you're supposed to be able to see the creator's name.
Point being, is that if you are gonna do an exploration game for the sake of it, you're gonna have to give people reasons to keep exploring. Be it minor reasons like hidden items or major reasons like maybe discovering a new location.
